New Responsive Dry Glove –
We are excited to introduce Furnace, a cold water equipment company based in Portland, Maine. Furnace is dedicated to building a brand that celebrates the passion and dedication of cold water athletes by developing products that keep them warmer, longer.
Yona Belfort is a cold water surfer and product designer. He worked at the design and innovation firm IDEO for eight years. During that time, he led the team that created Quiksilver’s Cypher Massive Board-short worn by 11 time World Champion Kelly Slater. Yona sees an opportunity to develop the world’s best cold water gear in the frigid waters of Maine. Yona holds engineering degrees from the University of Rochester and Stanford.
Furnace was born when co-founder, Sam Palmer, replaced one of his neoprene gloves with an orange latex dish glove, a fleece liner and sealed it with duct tape. He dreamed of keeping his hands lighter and warmer by using air as insulation rather than water used in neoprene gloves. We’ve been prototyping, testing, and refining the Response Dry Gloves ever since.
This Kickstarter will fund the manufacture of our 2nd generation Response Dry Glove.
