Capital to Grow Your Business –
Sam has more than 25 years experience helping middle-market companies access capital. As a business owner, investor, legal advisor, and legislative advocate, he has devoted his career to helping business owners find the resources they need at every stage: start-up, growth, expansion, and sale.
During the decade prior to joining CFA, Sam founded two private investment funds focused on lending to small and medium-sized enterprises, and served as an investment advisor to two other similar funds. Before this he practiced business finance law for 12 years, mostly with New York City law firms, but also as general counsel to a technology company. He understands well the issues and documents involved in debt and equity financings and the challenges of running a business.
Prior to law school Sam was a Legislative Assistant to Congressman John R. McKernan, Jr. (R–ME) and later was a lobbyist for the National Federation of Independent Business, in each position working to advance the interests of business owners. Mr. Adams received a J.D. from Washington and Lee University in 1989 and holds a B.A. in History from Kenyon College (1981). He lives with his wife and son in Freeport, Maine.
