Steven Roy, the newly assigned Local Veterans Employment Representative (LVER) grew up in Manchester Maine. From 1991 to 1993 attended Southern Maine Technical College and graduated with a Associates degree in Criminal Justice. He then joined the Marines as a military Policeman spending 2 years in Japan and 2 years in California before returning to Maine.
Upon returning he joined the Marine Infantry reserves in Topsham Maine for 10 years. In between the reserve time he was a local Police officer for 4 years. In 1996 he rejoined the active duty Marines as a Recruiter and was stationed in Maine for all 4 years.
After talking to a National Guard recruiter in 2000, he then joined the Maine Army National Guard as a recruiter before being assigned as a recruiting supervisor in 2008. In 2013 he was assigned as Senior Operations NCO (Non- Commissioned Officer) until he retired from the military in May of 2015. He did a total of 22 years active duty with another 10 years reserve time.
He graduated from UMA in May this year with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree with a minor in Business. He is married and has 3 children ages 11,16, and 18.
